The thief on the cross confessed on the cross and nailed to a cross he was at the end of his life. Now of course he had the Lord Jesus Christ who is the blood atonement / the lamb who that takes away the sins of the world nailed to the cross next to him. He did not need baptism because he's nailed to the cross at the end of his life and he repented and confessed in front of the true Messiah. He was in agony/pain/bleeding too. There were three of them. God forgave him and he repented and ask for remembrance once Christ entered his Kingdom. Again, since that thief was in pain nailed to that cross it is not as though he could go get believers baptism.
There are question people have. Do you need baptism to be saved? Well the lord Jesus Christ said you must be born again. Some people feel that happens the moment you are saved. Peter said repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ and you shall receive the gift of the holy ghost.
Do you need baptism to be saved? Really NO! But it is important. Most people in the gospel were baptized. (believers' baptism) Better to be and know what that is than not. Look what the thief said below..
Luke 23.41 (KJV)
"41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
Look at John 3 3-6
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter
the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit.

The thief was on the cross in the
right place at the wrong time but it was his right time. In other words he
couldn't have been deceived by a counterfeit Christ. He believed. He stood up
for Christ against the other thief and repented/confessed. Even on the cross
Jesus/Yeshua saves a soul.
"Jewish tradition forbade burial within the walls of a
city, and the Gospels specify that Jesus was buried outside of Jerusalem, near
the site of his crucifixion on Golgotha ("the place of skulls"). Oct 31, 2016
The thief on the cross pick up his cross on the cross.
