Hypocritical arrogant pridefilled none repentance

Luke 16.31
"And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."

Just before we get into the story of the rich man and the beggar let me say that this story shows those who have cares of this life but not of the life to come. It demonstrates those poor that have nothing and not even a home to live in nor food to eat. People pass them by as if they are nothing and they elevate themselves above them just as does/did the hypocritical religious leaders in Christs day. Not to say we don't have them today as we do! It shows the arrogance of pride and the "I don't care" attitude. It demonstrates the narrow mind that becomes deprived and blind then bears bad fruit.

Bless the Lord as John 3.16

Luke 16:19-31 King James Version

"19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead
.
Now out of commentaries I think this one is profound."

Ellicott commentary for English readers.

My analogy summed up.... Now I'm getting a little off topic here but it's important.

You got to ask the question why does God let the devil and those fallen angels/demons deceive mankind and blind their minds? Some say so that God gets the glory in the end. Who's to blame? Well we're told we don't wrestle with flesh and blood but with principalities in high places. Ephesians 6.12 God used Prophets to work his will and gave us his word and the comforter. He gave us his only begotten son. Through deceit and wicked men
the devil work's his will. The son of God said his kingdom is a spiritual Kingdom and he is not of this world. John 18:36 The things he taught were/are so profound that they shed light on the darkness. This world of deception plays on people's pride and arrogance not to mention lack of understanding and even spiritual knowledge. And such deceivers further blinds their minds from the truth. We're told that few be there that find that narrow doorway in their lifetime and that's why it's a cross. Because the real way is despised and hidden to the eyes of those that have been deceived. That was the profound implication in taken those doves and making merchandise out of the house of the saviors father. There is great profound implications or revelation not to mention spiritual wisdom in that one biblical story. Countless people are ignorant to the real way and they're blind as a bat to even know that it exists. What keeps them blind? It's probably something major but there might be different blind spots for different people. That's why the word of God says lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6 Many have a cartoon figure of Christ.

Now to look back at the complete biblical story overview about the rich man and the beggar some things that jumps out at me is that the rich man failed to love others that he despised while he had life on Earth. You know how it is written that the world loves its own. It loves those that are like it and have communion in unrighteousness and the worldly ways. You know Christ said when you do it to the least of them you have done it on to him. In modern Christianity they might tell you that you are not saved by works so don't bother doing anything. In other words get salvation and become unfruitful. This is a lie and not the truth. But there is another truth to that as the narrow way  is really a cross. Why do you have to pick it up and why did the Rich Young ruler have to pick it up? Because it's a narrow way of not as the world does and that is the way of the Messiah who was sinless. i:e Cast down strongholds! The gospel tells us few be there that find it in their lifetime. It tells us that Abraham said "son remember that in thy lifetime receiveth like good things and likewise Lazarus evil things but now he is comforted and though art tormented."

Now the rich man was in Hades/hell suffering. Why didn't God forgive him? Why didn't God forgive the rich man? Because while he had the breath of Life in his body he didn't make the effort to love his neighbor as himself and he was greedy. He didn't repent and believe in the gospel. I think the profound line is when the rich man in Hades  said to send him/Lazarus to go tell his five brothers this place really does exist so they never end up there. That they never come to this place of torment. And then Abraham told him they had Moses and they had the prophets but didn't hear them. And then he came back with the line "Father Abraham but if one went on to them from the dead they will repent." And then he told him if they did not hear Moses nor the prophets neither will they be persuaded even though one rose from the dead. You remember that Christ raised Lazarus from the dead. It is interesting to note that the chief priests/all the people mentioned in commentary above consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away and believed on Jesus. Even after the Lord Jesus Christ raised Lazarus from the dead these Pharisees/people listed on the commentary above and especially the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus to death again. Why would they want to do that after Jesus Christ raised him from the dead? They were religious arrogant/evil mind manipulating wicked men that didn't want people to believe on the Lord. People blind people and then they say that demonic world we cannot see has a hand in it which is true. Ephesians 6:12 kjv Then people would fall away from them following these religious leaders and then may actually start to follow and believe on Christ Jesus instead of them. Matthew 23:27

IMPORTANT

Romans 10:3-4, “For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish THEIR OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”   His grace is sufficient for us believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Commentary HERE  You can sin willfully or ignorantly. Shall grace abound, (be extended) or shall you be cut off from the land?

Footnotes

The rich man had fine clothes on. Lazarus was a beggar as he was hungry. He needed medical attention. He had sores and the dogs came and licked his sores. He desired just to have some of the crumbs from the rich man's table. Ever seen hungry homeless people  going through garbages and wish that they can just find a piece of food. Yet this rich fella had no compassion. He was comfortable with the cares of this life and ignorance that enclosed him in stupidity and ungodliness. He didn't even have compassion as he was sinful and wicked. So God gave him his just punishment without repentance.
