What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them

This is not to bring division but to examine what a brother in Christ wrote which I find extremely interesting.  Looking at John 14 particularly where David McMillan says that Jesus said whatsoever we ask for we will receive if we believe it. So I am examining the text in the bible/scripture.

So David makes a reference to John 14:13 Now I'm looking at John 14:5 and it is entitled "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life". Here Thomas is asking the Lord "we know not whither thou goest and how could we know the way".  The works Christ is talking about is not the works of carnal man. It is the works of righteousness. Hence: To serve the lord! Because Jesus says that greater things being works somebody who believes in him will do. Particularly to chosen in his day. Gods works! Matter of fact he explains to Thomas that he is the way and how the father is in him. In other words if you believe in him and you've seen him then you have seen the father. But when he says "whatsoever" you ask this is according to the will of God and according to righteousness. You see he said that Satan thinks of things that be of men and not the things that be of God. So as I've even heard from Justin Peters is how a prosperity gospel is pulled out of this scriptures. And then my examining of the text and in common sense according to Holiness is then it is apparent that that's what he's talking about.  I mean take a look at the apostles as they were fishermen. Did Jesus give them mansions on earth or expensive items? Did he give them all fancy clothing and expensive things that have little to do with the will of God? I tell you no. Nay. But I remind you as some preachers preach that some of the gifts are no longer with us. Some people think or believe that all the gifts that the apostles had including the gift of healing is still with us. We don't dispute that God himself can heal people still and do miracles. So there is this debate in biblical Christianity according to the gift of healing. Yes the gift of teaching is still with us. I've looked at tongues before and that is humongous in study. Now it could be very well possible that the gift of healing some may have. If it be so it would not be apparent as God is not some stage act. So I just wanted to reference this and have a little look.

You look at the lives the martyrs of Jesus Christ lived or even the Apostles it wasn't a glorified life in things of worldliness. In other words they had necessities and they had also the power of healing and they preached the gospel. Now when he was speaking this verse being Jesus Christ he wasn't speaking to us directly. He was speaking to Thomas and those that were in front of him in his time period on earth.  I mean look at the rich young ruler on earth when he asked Christ what he could do then to have eternal  life. Christ told him to sell everything and give the money to the poor then pick up his cross and follow him. What is the cross? The truth as God sees and know it.  The truth the devil hates. Biblical truth. In fact Christ says if a person is not willing to pick up the cross then they are not worthy of him. Most likely the deceived do not pick up their cross but they are actually enemies of the cross.

Now David references John 16:23 and he says he is saying the exact same thing. So let’s examine this verse.

If we go up to John 16:17 it's entitled: Your sorrow will turn to joy. First of all let me say. Amen. Why would I say that because I trust the Lord and I know that it is true? Now let’s examine the complete verse.

Now we have to look at John 16:17-33. This is profound and needs study. If you skip right to John 16:33 Christ says in verse 33 these things; I have spoken onto you that in me you might have peace. "In the world you shall have tribulation but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world." He tells them what to expect in this life. If he's going to give them hand outs of everything that they could ask for and they have tribulation what is the use? Again he's talking about necessities and he's also talking about himself. They believe in him and they have in him eternal life/A true King. One day they're going to inherit their inheritance. He tells them about the joy that they're going to have one day. They are the Disciples of Christ that were there present in that day. Yes as believers we share in the same inheritance or of the same body of believers. Christ makes reference to a woman when she is pregnant the pain that she experiences and when she gives birth the joy that she experiences. In other words the same will happen to disciples being believers. He made it known that he has to leave and they will be sorrowful. But he is going to be with them again one day in eternal life and there will be eternal joy. They don't have to ask nothing and they still will receive. But what are they going to be receiving? Is it houses, expensive cars, expensive designer clothes, worldly possessions, and all manner of things that are an abomination to God? No. Things that are an accordance to his will and their necessities in this life and in the life to come. They don't have to ask. They have an inheritance and they are loved. The father loves them because they have loved and believed in Christ the son of the Living God. That is the Christ that was in front of them on that day. That is the Jewish biblical non-pagan Jesus Christ who is the son of the living God. (Emanuel God is with us).

Yes you ask in the name of Jesus Christ being Jesus. Or you could ask in the name Yeshua. Either way God knows that you're asking in his name whatever you will ask. Sure faith is important but people take out of context as if God is some sugar daddy wanting to give people say a 40 Oz bottle of alcohol and whatever worldly possession they might ask. Even evil things! Could you show me an example in the gospel where those disciples or Apostles of Jesus or the martyrs of Christ lived such a life? No they all lived a life of picking up their cross. Many were murdered for their faith even for preaching the gospel among-st wolves. Most likely they were fisher of men as some of them were.

I agree with David as you ask only in the name of Christ. You don't pray to anyone else name other than Jesus or God. Some people pray to dead saints or other people other than in the name of Christ or to the God of scripture. The word of God calls this necromancy. God warns about this as it has to do with the occult.

Now I know we can get into healing. People want healing. But everyday millions of people die around the world. Now if we take it as a prosperity gospel more people didn't receive healing or died or didn't receive the possessions they desired  then it is because  they didn't have enough faith and so they weren't healed or didn't receive all the desires of their hearts as it is their fault.  Or someone prayed for them other than to the true God. Just seems a tad redundant to me. Not only redundant but ridiculous. In this life you will have tribulation but be of good cheer as I have overcome the world. Where two or three are gathered in my name Justine Peters explained that wonderfully on one of his teachings which is profound. It’s talking about church discipline. Go examine the Scriptures in Matthew 18:15-17

See what people do is they see God as a sugar daddy wanting to fill people's joy with worldliness and things full of Abominations that take their focus off God. They also can't distinguish between worldliness and holiness. So it all kind of gets intertwined into this big mess of do my will and God accepts everything. He loves me so much that he just wants to furnish me with everything I could desire. Live a good life now instead of in the life to come.  It should be according to his will and not yours. Fruits worthy of repentance as written in the gospel. Luke 3:8

I'm not disputing that in rare cases God won't do something you ask. Because I do have an experience of once praying and asking for something that doesn't come easy in which most people never experience such as it happened. I did ask in prayer in Jesus's name. But was it done because I wanted it or was it done to show me that he was real knowing one day I would come and discover the glory of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words I would come to true salvation. The Bible says that a workmen is worthy of his meat. He earned his keep.

You know there are atheists and people of many other backgrounds and religions that ever walked the face of the earth. There are multimillionaires or billionaires and many of them serve other gods or are atheists. They have an abundance. But they don't have Christ nor the father. So who's given them what they have? Well some would say that the God of this world (Satin) which is not the real God is whom is doing it and that's who they are serving. Yes to a degree! Matthew 4.9 Faith without works is dead! James 2:26 How do we know this is the case in every instance? See that's something else that should be weighted and then considered carefully.

What you have in Christ is a gift that no man can give. John 3:16.

I will close and remind you that John 2:16 has been in the focus when I've asked or contemplating what is the truth being  even in modern day Christianity or counterfeit Christianity. You can't serve two masters. Christ knows if somebody asks for something and it's going to be asked for to squander it. So many people can't let go of the world and claim they hold onto Christ. I never knew you is profound. They said they did wonderful works. What were they lacking? Was it Faith? Was it compliance? Were they doing their own will? Were they true disciples? Were they truly Born Again Christians? Where they lacking faith in Christ? Why couldn't the rich man that went to hell receive forgiveness? He was rich in material possessions and greedy. See he didn't have the son nor the father. He didn’t seem to repent or learn the lesson to think about others.  Forgive others, love others. It was me, myself and I. So you have to ask yourself why are some people forgiven and other people not/condemned. The problem is called hypocrisy. You can't serve two masters and you can't do your will. How do we know this? Because Jesus said that those that don't bring good fruits forth are cast into the Fire and perish.

Now I know there were rich worthy men in the gospel whom God loves that had a relationship with God but we have to look at this down to earth and reasonable. Most people in the world don’t have necessities to even live a life of quality. Many people live in countries that are communist and suffer human tragedy or human abuse. There are other places where there are people dying and homeless. Every day children die of diseases that are profound and not curable. Let me ask you something. Where is their grace? Where are their handouts? Where are their necessities?

If you can open your ears and hear it and have/can accepted the truth is people want to have their cake and eat it too. And the multitudes don’t love God with all their hearts, mind and soul. People love and suck the world. 1.) People self worship themselves or others even as gods. 2.) Men take council against the true God but he is not mocked. People worship the world. So many people want what other people have. Many people are rebellious sinners who refuse to repent let alone acknowledge the biblical truth. The devil deceives the WHOLE WORLD. Revelation 2:9 Where are they going then such people? To a place no one should go.

I say whatever you have give thanks and praise daily. Tell others about the true biblical none pagan Jesus Christ whom was Jewish in his earthy ministry. Preach the gospel. Love each other and do his will and not yours. Treat others as you would treat yourself.  Forgive others. Don’t be entangled in their deception. Love one and other. Pray for others as well but pick up your cross and rebuke with long suffering. 2 Timothy 4:2 You can't take these material possession with you so store up treasure for heaven were moths cannot get at them. Matthew 6:19-21
