What is Baptism by Fire?

           Powerful sermon from Jeff Durbin

Jeff talks about the Giants of the faith. Very interesting the way he explains it. I mean I can get into this deeply if I really wanted to but I’m not going to as deeply as can be. Yesterday I wrote about healing and the prosperity word of faith movement and I mentioned Justin Peters and how he exposed some of this movement. There is talk about baptism of water and then there was the baptism mentioned by John the Baptist of fire. John said that the Messiah would baptized with fire. So people ask what is this.

As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, John answered them all, saying, ‘I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.’
Luke 3:15-17”

Look what he says here:

The Holy Spirit is also the one who empowers life transformation. The apostle Paul tells us that if we walk with the Spirit, then we will bear the fruit of the Spirit—namely love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).”

So you see as I’ve mentioned before in my blogs that truly born-again Christians if they treat each other like crap then how are they exercising these gifts. If they claim to be born again and they don’t demonstrate the fruits of the spirit then that seems to be a a redundant problem. I have likened this to an apprentice before. And there is something as righteous anger. The Bible says don’t let the sun go down on you. It doesn’t mean don’t pick up your cross because it’s really telling us to be angry at sin. The lord Jesus Christ also said don’t practice your righteousness before men to be seen of men. The conundrum is glorify your father which is in heaven. How do you glorify him if you don’t practice your righteousness before men? You don’t need the praise of men. You need to be humbled before the Lord. You need to be in Christ and born again. Not walking in the fleshly desires. Walking in newness of life. Read the blog here

Now look what the narrator Jeff the pastor said in this video. He mentioned that God used imperfect people and he described the imperfectness of these people. He describes the blemishes of these people and yet God still uses them. That’s what I’ve said before.

Look what he says here..

So John the Baptizer’s point is that while he’s baptizing the people with water as an outward sign of their repentance and faith in God, Jesus would come with a baptism of the Holy Spirit—meaning that he would literally immerse his followers into the Spirit of God himself.”

In short form the disciple is never above his master but he becomes like his master. That should give you a good idea.

So Jeff says as when Christians say bring down your fire God as they think it’s an anointing but that fire is wrath. Stand aside. God‘s wrath or his consuming fire is not what you want.

Jeff says we have the same spirit that they had in the first century but we’re missing boldness. That is if you are born again. He said we can raise the dead. Now I do see boldness in preachers and then even street preachers or Christians. “Butthere is skepticism about having their gift of healing. Cannon is closed. Jeff explains boldness how we speak it trusting and speak it confidently and boldly in essence. At 47:29 in the video Jeff describes the different types of boldness where you can have a preacher with a shirt calling people for instance fags as in God hates fags or you can have a man of God that is humbled and he has humbled boldness. He’s able to minister to that person/people with better precision. And that’s what I was talking about in one of my blogs. He said there’s a distinct difference being a prophet of God and a jerk. I’ve seen street preachers for instance in Canada preach humbly and wonderfully. Then I’ve seen street preachers preach sort of in a way that’s a jerk. God hates fags. You know the signs on the T-shirts. So you have whats know as shock and AW type of street preachers and then you have the humbled bold ones.

As Jeff stated your not imaging God when you’re a flat out rude bold jerk. What was Jesus? Truthful, humbled, teachable, taking authority, loving and bold as he was able to change hearts. Truly I read before that Jesus did so many works that it can fill volumes of books. He demonstrated God’s love for those who love God what awaits them. He said all tears will be wiped away.
