How ye ought to walk and to please God

June 19, 2020 9:44 pm

That map if you look at it above there are the places Apostle Paul traveled to and started Churches and brought people to the lord Jesus Christ in his time.

Book 1 Thessalonians 1-5 (1
Book 2 Thessalonians 1-3 (2)

"I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren." This was The Apostle Paul's instructions. The links are provided above if you desire to read those books in their entirety.

One of the greatest things we learn from Paul's Epistles and especially to the Thessalonians is the love that must be evident among-st believers/brethren in the true biblical Jesus Christ/The Messiah. In Paul's day Paul probably new the Lord as either Yeshua or Emmanuel. He knew he was the son of the living God. Paul was Jewish. What Paul did by getting countless people saved is incredible. Now to note: These in essence were an Ancient people.

You can read the entire chapters yourselves however I do feel  these chapters looked at here of the Thessalonians is extremely important for Christian believers today and even for unbelievers this is a great read. As I say it is evident when reading the text that the Apostle Paul demonstrated love in his Epistles in the way he treated those he loved and brought to Christ. This is something I find a lacking in modern times. Should we be surprised as we were forewarned that it would be this way and people will become cold. But even in all of that rejoice because Christ overcame the world if you put your faith in him that is the right thing to do. You know the Lord Jesus Christ said nothing can separate those he has chosen out of the world. If you are saved and you are in Christ that is profound. That is something to sing praises unto the Lord and give thanks everyday for everything.

Let's look at a little information about who were these Thessalonians.

Who were the Thessalonians? And learning about the Thessalonians provides an understanding and a good clue what is required in the act of love regarding the living God. It's a call to holiness. See Paul demonstrated love but he also pointed out the flaws that are errors in certain congregations/churches of those that he either established/founded or helped in doing so. Thessalonica (also Thessalonike) was an ancient city of Macedon in northern Greece which today is the city of Thessaloniki. Thessalonians: was written to a community of believers who had been Christians for only a short period of time, probably no more than a few months

The First Epistle to the Thessalonians: "commonly referred to as First Thessalonians or 1 Thessalonians, is a Pauline epistle of the New Testament of the Christian Bible. The epistle is attributed to Paul the Apostle, and is addressed to the church in Thessalonica, in modern-day Greece."

"The epistle is attributed to Paul the Apostle, and is addressed to the church in Thessalonica, in modern-day Greece. It is likely the first of Paul's letters, probably written by the end of AD 52 (however, some scholars believe the Epistle to Galatians may have been written at an earlier date: AD 48)"

There is an article that argues that the recent scholarly consensus of an essentially gentile Thessalonian Church was being persecuted by its gentile neighbours and was founded on unsound premises. "The Jewish community in Thessalonica would have had good reason to oppose Paul and the congregation he formed."

What is Sanctification: This is important especially for born again believers as the lord Jesus Christ said on the sermon on the Mount to be holy as your father is holy.  Sanctification is the act or process of acquiring sanctity, of being made or becoming holy.

What is fornication? There is sexual fornication and spiritual fornication. Neither is good as both are wicked sin. Two people become one flesh according to the lord/gospel and people unsaved will give an account for all done in the body while they had the breath of life.  "Sexual intercourse between people not married to each other. "laws forbidding adultery and fornication" is wrong/sin! Gods word instructs us how we shall live and it warns people about the coming judgment

Now a little we look at scripture...

Thessalonians 4:1-12 King James Version

There are clear warning here... no fornication and each one must KNOW how to possess his vessels. Private Parts.. No sex before marriage and there is a call to holiness. No defrauding your brothers. They are to increase more & more in terms of believers. Remember when one souls is saved Angels rejoice in heaven. At that time many Gentiles did not know God. Wonder if more know him today? Hope so!

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 King James Version (KJV)

This verse speaks about the catching away. Those sleeping in the grave that died in Christ will be raised as well as those in Christ still alive at his snatching away. They refer to this as the rapture. When it does happen people will know it happened and then they will know GOD is REAL or suspect that are lost. But many will be left behind if they don't repent and believe in the gospel. Now whom was truly saved in the lord God knows. Spread the word of God and be of good cheer. The lord Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world and he is risen. The dead in Christ will be the first ones to rise. What a wedding that will be.

John 3:16 (The gift of God). Not to be taken in vain. Remember that!

King James Version (KJV)

"Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ"

I never knew you as the lord Jesus Christ will tell many when he parts the sheep from the goats on Judgment Day. That is the wheat from the Tars that grew together on earth. Not some other planet! Will you be blameless and did you obey the lord? Did you trample the blood? Did you abuse grace and fall away? Pray for each other and encourage each other

Now an important book. Thessalonians 5  (KJV)

"For the most part, the letter is personal in nature, with only the final two chapters spent addressing issues of doctrine, almost as an aside. Paul's main purpose in writing is to encourage and reassure the Christians there. Paul urges them to go on working quietly while waiting in hope for the return of Christ."

Paul instructs the Thessalonians  and tells them he prays they are to be blameless. Be patient with all men. Something, many time this is which humans lack in! One big one is quench not the spirit. That is the holy spirit. Renew your minds people, and put those minds on things that be from above. He is the life as well. So many forget to live the life he taught and sit idle waiting to be rapture'd out. When a person is saved they pass from death to life. If only the lost could truly understand what that means. Paul did not want these Thessalonians to be ignorant and neither should you as the lord is RISEN and he is exactly whom he said he was.

There is talk about the man of sin in 2nd Thessalonians and how he exalts himself to the place of God. This has been covered in previous bible studies under the heading "The Mystery Of Iniquity". Not to doom and gloom but destruction is coming upon the wicked and these things will gets worst and worst with increase until the lords return.  What will it profit you to gain the whole world and loss your souls. Matthew 16:26 Yes your soul! He is the truth, the way and the life and many are born around the world every day and many die NOT in Christ and perish. Are you going to accept the free gift of the Lord Jesus Christ and turn from sin and believe in the gospel? Or are you going to find out God is REAL and so is hell. Get Saved How ye ought to walk and to please God! is by his standards as set forth in his word! Narrow is the way that leads to life and broad is the way that leads to destruction. There is a way that man THINKS is right but it leads to death spiritually and then you perish eventually. There is a man whom came to earth and died in your places so you could live. He paid the debt in full with his own blood and you were purchased for a might price. There is no other name given under heaven in which you might be saved than Jesus Christ our lord and savor.

The heard must be Shepherd!!! Do they need milk or solid food? Live and learn from the Thessalonians...
