"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven." As they say "Paradise".
I'm just looking at (2) verses of scripture today. And I am quite sure that the analogy of this scripture even in its whole could be much more in depth but that is not rather important right now. That is not the focus at this time. He is the life and the way. Not just the truth.
Matthew 6:
"19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:"
Now I will say in M:6.19 that worldliness will not suffice. People take heed in a lot of things that rust and they are nothing more than a waste of time and in fact just idols. Better put abominations unto God. Sure, humans might find joy in such things. And we don't need to get into what all those things are. One of the most important things is the word of God. Put that word in your heart.
In regards to verse M:6.20 Christ once said that people should fear God as he can send them to hell in retrospect where the worm dies not and the fire is never quenched. Don't fear man who can kill the body and then do no more but fear God who has the power to cast you into outer darkness. (HELL) Reference : Matthew 5.30
"Matthew 6:19-20 is a cloaked way of referring to the transmigration of the soul and one taking their "treasures" - their talents and education - along with them into their next incarnation."
That explanation above seems like reincarnation. Is this what it really is? Perhaps a tad in the eternal life treasures of YOU. The obedience of the spirit that is in cooperation with the Lamb of God is a key factor. Where your heart is there will be your treasures. Christ said that. What are the fruits of the spirit? Love, joy, peace and so on. The lord Jesus Christ said in my father's house are many mansions and he said if it were not so then I would not have told you. He said I go prepare a place for you. You will be where I am. We know what the gospel says. In essence a man or a woman must be born again. The heart must be in compliance with the Lord. When you love the eternal God of hosts/Christ with all your heart, mind and soul then you are doing well and storing up treasures for heaven. They say we are to be like him. That is true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. How gracious he was when he was on Earth. Are we to cut corners? He said my sheep hear my voice and they obey and they won't go to another sheepfold.
Now let's take a look at another verse to get a better idea
Matthew 6:
"2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."
They have sounded the trumpet to have the glory of men and have been paid in full. Their treasures will expire because they are corrupted. What is the key then? 1.) To carry your cross 2.) A Love for the word of God. 3.) Desire to follow the lord. 4.) Have a relationship with father, son and Holy Ghost. 5.) And to live a holy life. But there is another key factor too.
DO NOT YOUR ALMS BEFORE MEN
Are you really SAVED? Wake up NOW!!! Get saved!
Foot Notes:
I found a more complex look at this by Paul Washer Bring forth the Treasure: (VIEW)
It is written in Colossi-ans 2:17 "Which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ."
Alive in Christ
"…16 Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a feast, a New Moon, or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a man is puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind."
